Emergency. Sturminster Newton Mill– 2021

Following days of heavy rain, a large volume of woody material had washed down the River Stour and lodged against the footbridge next to Sturminster Newton Mill. With the risk of further flooding, we carried this work out on a Saturday.

Thankfully, there was just enough space to squeeze the Landrover onto the site and utilise the powerful winch on the front of the vehicle. Using poles we were able to get ropes around each section of timber before winching it away from the bridge, across the water and up the bank. The ground protection mats were used to limit the damage to the riverbank.
